Gurugram, 11th oct. Amity International School, Sector 46, Gurugram, organized an interactive workshop titled “Parenting in the Digital Era – Nurturing Balance Beyond Screen”, conducted by Principal Dr. Arti Chopra. The session began with the ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by an online poll to understand parents’ attitudes toward their children’s internet use. Dr. Chopra addressed the challenges of parenting in the technology-driven age, focusing on equipping parents and children to navigate the digital world safely, handle screen time and social media, and build harmony between home and school. She elaborated on the signs and symptoms of excessive screen exposure, its physical, emotional, and social impacts, and emphasized that parents must guide rather than restrict children while modeling healthy digital behavior themselves.

Through interactive case studies, parents explored real-life situations involving cyberbullying, digital addiction, excessive online gaming and online content management, while discussing practical ways to prevent and manage such issues. Dr. Chopra also spoke about digital parenting styles, the importance of inter-generational communication to bridge emotional gaps, and creating no-gadget family zones to encourage meaningful conversations. She stressed the need for routine, introspection, and balanced family time to counter the growing isolation in nuclear families. The workshop featured a video on mindful digital choices and introduced the NCERT Family Digital Safety Pledge, reaffirming parents’ role in nurturing responsible digital citizens. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem, leaving parents motivated to cultivate balance, empathy, and cultural rootedness in the digital age.
