Industrial and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh launched Cyclothon 2.0 for Jhajjar by hoisting the flag at Ghamroj Toll Plaza.
Rao Narbir Singh claimed the event has sparked a significant anti-substance abuse wave in Haryana.
Elected representatives, officials, ex-servicemen, and diverse community members from sports and other fields joined the ride to support Haryana’s drug-free campaign.
Gurugram, April 12 – Carrying forward Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s message of a “Drug-Free Haryana,” Cyclothon 2.0 is steadily progressing towards its goal through widespread public participation across the state. On Saturday, Cyclothon 2.0 was conducted along the major roads of the Gurugram district. Industrial and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh launched the morning’s journey from Ghamroj Toll Plaza by unfurling the flag. He also participated by riding his own bicycle, inspiring the youth to contribute to a drug-free Haryana.
MLA Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna and MLA Bimla Chaudhary from Pataudi extended their best wishes to the Cyclothon participants. In addition, Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar and Additional Deputy Commissioner Hitesh Kumar Meena took part in the ride, cycling from Ghamroj Toll Plaza to Elan Mall on the Dwarka Expressway, urging residents to support the campaign.
Before officially starting Cyclothon 2.0 by hoisting the flag, Rao Narbir Singh addressed the participants and residents at Ghamroj Toll Plaza. He remarked that the initiative has sparked a significant anti-drug wave in the state, with Gurugram playing a crucial role. “Gurugram is internationally recognized, and its message resonates worldwide. For India to become a global role model, our youth must lead the fight against substance abuse,” he said. He also ensured that those present took an oath for a drug-free Haryana.
Enthusiasm Among Youth and Senior Citizens Alike:
Cyclothon 2.0 saw participation from various cycling community members, students from schools and colleges, and participants across different age groups. A noteworthy number of senior citizens participated in the event. Among them were Sahadev (67) from Rohtak, Jaipal (70) from Sonipat, and Pawan Kumar from Karnal, with others joining from Hisar. The senior participants, who had travelled from different districts to Gurugram, shared their experiences and inspired the younger generation to contribute to the fight against substance abuse.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar honoured the participants by presenting them with certificates and wished them a bright future, emphasizing that their contributions to such initiatives will always inspire society. Prior to the Cyclothon, Monty Sharma’s cultural troupe and Zumba activities had already infused great enthusiasm among the participants for the Drug-Free Haryana campaign.
Massive Public Support from Ghamroj to Budhera:
The Cyclothon received overwhelming public support throughout the district. In areas such as Ghamroj, Bhondsi, Badshahpur, Vatika Chowk, SPR Road, Dwarka Expressway, Basai, Dhankot, Chandu, and Budhera, large groups of local residents cheered on the participants and lent their support to the state government’s campaign against substance abuse. In keeping with Haryana’s traditional values, participants even took oaths against substance abuse at various points along the route.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including DC Arpit Jain, SDM Sanjeev Singla from Sohna, SDM Dinesh Kumar from Pataudi, SDM Darshan Yadav from Manesar, ACP Satypal Yadav, and ACP Jitendra Kumar. Additionally, CEO Gaurav Singh of CSR Trust Haryana, Deputy Director (Sports) Giriraj Singh, DIPRO Bijendra Kumar, Naib Tehsildar Ashish Malik, and BJP District President Sarvapriya Tyagi were also present. Sadhna Rani, the Head of Ghamroj village, as well as representatives from organizations such as the Veteran Air Warrior Association and the Rahgiri Foundation, were also present among others.
