Gurugram (Paridhi Dhasmana), 10 April – Panic erupted at the Gurugram bus stand this afternoon after a city bus caught fire. Fortunately, all passengers had deboarded just in time, and no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred around 3 PM when a Gurugram city bus arrived at the bus stand, and smoke was seen emerging near its rear tires. The driver quickly stopped the bus and ensured all passengers were safely evacuated.
Firefighters from the Bhimnagar Fire Station reached the spot promptly and managed to control the blaze before it could spread to nearby buses. Preliminary reports suggest the fire started due to overheating near the rear tyres.
The bus stand staff also attempted to douse the flames using available equipment before the fire brigade arrived.
Bhimnagar Fire Station officer Narendra Kumar confirmed the fire and stated that while the bus was damaged, the extent of the loss would be assessed by GMDA’s city bus management body, GMCBL.
Thanks to swift action, a major disaster was averted.
