Gurugram (Mohit Kumar), 8 April. In a special session of the Gurugram Municipal Corporation, the youngest independent councillor, Neha Devatwal, immediately captured everyone’s attention. Despite this being her first time speaking at a corporation meeting, her confident delivery and firm grasp on the issues of her ward made it seem as though she were a seasoned speaker.
During the session, while many of her fellow leaders remained silent, Neha from Ward 17 was vocal about the pressing issues in her area. She specifically raised concerns about the sanitation system and demanded an appropriate budget allocation for sanitation workers. In addition to the issues related to cleanliness, Neha, who represents Sihi village, also expressed her opinions regarding the state of the local playground and the allocation of funds for sports.
Her spirited and assertive approach resonated well with the members present, as evidenced by the frequent applause at her table while she spoke. Having carved out a distinct, assertive identity during her election campaign as an independent candidate, Neha Devatwal’s performance in the session underscored her commitment to addressing local issues head-on and redefined expectations for new voices in local governance.
