Gurugram (Paridhi Dhasmana), 25 April – Gurugram Police have arrested a fugitive accused in a 17-year-old murder case from Madhya Pradesh. The suspect, declared a proclaimed offender by the local court, had been constantly changing locations to evade arrest.
According to police, at around 11:00 PM on August 18, 2007, in the Badshahpur area, Ram Lal of Mehandipur Balaji village (Rajasthan) was struck on the head with a heavy wooden rod and killed. Ram Lal’s nephew identified the accused as Ramesh of Sukha village, under Patharia police station in Damoh district, Madhya Pradesh.
Under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-2) Lalit Dalal HPS, Inspector Deepak Kumar of the Gurugram Police Headquarters formed a special team that arrested Ramesh on April 24 in Madhya Pradesh.
During interrogation, Ramesh admitted that he and Ram Lal worked together as masons. The two had quarreled over money that night, prompting Ramesh to deliver fatal blows to Ram Lal’s head and jaw before fleeing the scene.
Ramesh told investigators that he had lived in constant fear of capture, hiding at various times in Mathura, Agra, and Indore, and regularly changing his address. Wherever he stayed, he continued working as a mason.
The court had already declared Ramesh a proclaimed offender in this case. He has now been handed over to Badshahpur Police Station for further investigation.
