Gurugram, June 29. DLF Phase-1 is one of the Gurugram’s most premium and prestigious colonies with highly educated citizens, old-moneyed families and senior corporate leaders leading the list of the residents. Unfortunately, due to the dual apathy of the residents and the administration, i.e. the colony’s developers and the official bodies, Colony is facing a harsh reality — mounting filth, neglected sanitation, and a glaring lack of basic cleanliness infrastructure. Despite DLF’S elite status and soaring property values, the colony has been left to decay in silence. While neighbouring high rises enjoy structured and well-maintained systems, DLF Phase-1 has been ignored by those responsible for its upkeep.
But the residents have had enough.
In an inspiring show of civic duty and collective will, residents of DLF Phase-1 mostly 60+ years calling themselves Clean Crusaders of DLF (CCD). rolled up their sleeves and took matters into their own hands. Braving scorching heat and unexpected rain, they led a successful cleanliness drive across the colony. It wasn’t just about cleaning streets it was about sending a strong message.
A message that we will no longer wait for the system to act.
A message that clean surroundings are a basic right, not a luxury.
And most importantly, a message that community spirit triumphs over systemic failure.
On the first day of the drive, over 80 tons of legacy waste of all types, obviously not collected for about one year at least was removed. The good news is that seeing the efforts of their older citizens and the results of the first day, more volunteers joined CCD and next day of the drive. This drive by the Clean Crusaders of DLF stands as a powerful testament to the unwavering commitment of citizens who refuse to accept neglect as the norm — even when maintenance fees are paid and taxes collected, with little to show in return. The silence and inaction of the responsible maintenance authorities is not just disappointing it is a glaring failure.
As residents, we envision a clean, safe, and dignified environment not just for today, but for generations to come. We call upon the authorities to take note, take charge, and do what they are paid to do.
Because while today the people cleaned the streets, tomorrow, they will demand answers.
Let this be the beginning not just of a cleaner DLF Phase-1, but of a more accountable, responsive, and resident driven Gurugram.
