Gurugram, 26 April – Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh condemned the recent terror strike on tourists in Pahalgam as “extremely unfortunate” and vowed that the central government would ensure retaliation. He was speaking after handing out appointment letters to 147 young candidates at the Prime Minister’s Employment Fair held today in Gurugram.
When asked by reporters about the Pahalgam incident, Singh stated, “It is tragic that tourists were targeted and killed. The way they were singled out—asked for their religion before being shot—will not go unanswered by our government; there can be no doubt about that.”
On Tuesday in Jammu & Kashmir’s Baisaran Valley, militants disguised in army uniforms stopped a bus of pilgrims and, after checking their identity cards and confirming they were Hindu, opened fire, killing 26 people on the spot. The victims included mostly domestic tourists, along with two foreign nationals and two local residents; about 14 others were injured. The Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba’s affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), has claimed responsibility for the massacre. The attack came just days before the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin on 3 July.
