Gurugram (Mohit Kumar/Paridhi Dhasmana), 28 April — Nodal officer R.S. Bhatt today led a drive to seal illegally operating meat shops in the Harinagar area of Gurugram. While shutting down two stalls, Bath engaged in a heated exchange with one shopkeeper and retorted, “Do I look like your father?”
Bhatt had received intelligence that several meat vendors in Harinagar were conducting business without valid licenses. Arriving with his team this evening, he immediately sealed two shops. One vendor resisted, telling Bhatt he would secure a license once he “paid the right money.” Irritated, Bhatt replied, “First put it in writing, then I’ll consider it.” The vendor shot back, “Just write it down and I’ll sign it,” prompting Bhatt’s famous outburst, “Do I look like your father?”
Despite the confrontation, the shopkeeper eventually handed over a written note. He also explained that he had previously served as a home guard but, after losing that job, had opened the meat stall to make ends meet.
Bhatt warned that local residents had complained not only about unlicensed operations but also about rude treatment by some vendors. “If we find any carts or shops running without a license, they will be sealed immediately,” he declared. “No one will be allowed to bully or intimidate the public.”
