
Technical training will be given to women in power distribution sector – Dr. Tripta Thakur

Faridabad (Ajay Verma), 30 August. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Power Training Institute (NPTI) of the Ministry of Power located in Sector 33 and the All India Discom Association (AIDA) for co-operation for capacity building in the power distribution sector. Director General Dr. Tripta Thakur on behalf of NPTI and Director General Dr. Alok Kumar on behalf of AIDA expressed mutual consent on the MoU. Its objective is to promote cooperation, technological advancement and overall development in the power distribution sector of India. Which is a decisive step towards realizing the vision of building a viable, modern and future-ready power distribution sector in India.
Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General of NPTI, said that under this agreement, the training needs of the Discom employees will be assessed and then work will be done on training and capacity building. In line with the ongoing changes in the Indian power sector, development of strategies and programmes to strengthen the capacities of employees in the power distribution sector, with an emphasis on increasing the number of specially trained women. Extensive studies will be conducted on agreed topics related to the power distribution sector. Knowledge and dialogue will be exchanged through seminars, workshops and meetings.
Capacity building programmes will be implemented in advanced technical areas such as smart-metering, SCADA, data analytics, cyber security, artificial intelligence/machine learning, blockchain, information technology/operational technology, network planning and energy accounting.
Dr. Alok Kumar, Director General of AIDA, said that through this agreement, strong steps can be taken on the path of modernization, efficiency and inclusive growth in the power distribution sector through a disciplined and innovative approach. Creating opportunities in this sector, especially for women, and ensuring a deep impact of technical training will be considered a major achievement of this partnership.
