Gurugram, 17 May ─ In an era of economic uncertainty and rising energy concerns, more than 1,500 students at Blue Bells Model School laid out a blueprint for sustainability today at FUTURIX 6.0, the school’s sixth annual Design Thinking and Innovation Fair. The flagship event shone a spotlight on youth-driven solutions aimed at reducing waste, conserving resources, and reimagining tomorrow’s technologies.
The day began under the banner of “In a world facing growing environmental and economic challenges, the real hope lies in the hands of young innovators.” Mr. Satish Pahal, Deputy Secretary for Skill Education at CBSE, officially opened the fair, praising the students’ imaginative approaches. He then joined faculty in unveiling the official Design Fair Newsletter—a richly illustrated guide that profiles all 322 student-led projects.
Among the eye-catching exhibits was the Potato-Powered Electricity Generator, which converts potato acids into a power source; a Zero-Waste Café prototype that transforms organic scraps into bioplastics; and a Piezoelectric Generator mat that harvests energy from footsteps. “These ideas show that even simple materials can spark big change,” Mr. Pahal noted, urging teachers to nurture design-thinking and critical skill sets in their classrooms.
Visitors—nearly 600 in all, including delegations from GPSC schools across Gurugram—marveled at over 10 lead-mentor projects and 322 student presentations. Parents commended the young creators on their dedication and resourcefulness, and credited the teachers’ guidance as critical to their success.
“From gardening robots to eco-bumps that safely slow traffic, each project speaks to our collective responsibility,” said Principal Alka Singh. Dr. Saroj Suman Gulati, Director of BBGS, added, “Every student brings a unique perspective, and FUTURIX empowers them to turn creative ideas into tangible innovations.”
With 1,520 participants spanning Classes III to XII, FUTURIX 6.0 affirmed Blue Bells Model School’s commitment to fostering the next generation of sustainable problem-solvers—students determined to engineer a more efficient, environmentally conscious future.
