Gurugram (Paridhi Dhasmana), 28 November – The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has taken a crucial step to control the number of stray dogs and prevent rabies. It has been decided to launch a massive sterilization and mass vaccination campaign under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program. The responsibility of this 2-year campaign has been entrusted to Maa Baglamukhi Sewa Samiti of Jabalpur.
As per the orders issued by MCG, this campaign will run from 29 November 2025 to 28 November 2027. The agency will be paid ₹700 per dog as a sterilization fee and ₹250 as a mass vaccination/immunization fee. This step will enable scientific and humane control of the dog population in the city and reduce the risk of infection by administering anti-rabies vaccination to every dog on time.
All the work related to the campaign will be carried out under the supervision and approval of the Chief Medical Officer of Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG). Clear monitoring and reporting means have been put in place to ensure that the campaign is completed effectively and transparently. Looking at the number of stray dogs and the potential risk of rabies infection, this initiative is being considered a major step towards the safety and health of the residents of the city. This extensive campaign will promote animal welfare, control the stray dog population, and provide a safe environment for the city’s residents. The MCG has also appealed to the residents to cooperate to make this campaign a success and develop the city to be safe, clean, and health-friendly.
According to Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, this campaign was necessary, looking at the increasing number of stray dogs and the risk of rabies infection in Gurugram. Our purpose is to convoy animal welfare, public safety and health. Widespread sterilization and vaccination will not only curb the uncontrolled dog population but also provide effective protection against dangerous infection like rabies. We want Gurugram to develop into a safe and health-friendly city.
