Gurugram, 16 September. With the blessings and constant guidance of our Hon’ble Chairperson, Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan, and under the able leadership of our respected Principal, Ms. Arti Chopra, a Mock Fire Drill was successfully conducted on 16th September 2025 at 10:00 am in the school premises.
The drill was aimed at sensitizing students and staff about the importance of safety preparedness during emergencies and ensuring that everyone is well-versed with evacuation procedures. The Junior School evacuated the building in 1 minute 30 seconds, while the Senior School completed the evacuation in an impressive 1 minute 02 seconds. The entire exercise was carried out in a highly disciplined, calm, and systematic manner.
Teachers and staff guided the students efficiently to the designated safe zones, ensuring that the evacuation process remained smooth and orderly. In addition to this, students displayed remarkable proactiveness by volunteering to demonstrate first-aid techniques under the supervision of teachers. They practiced assisting peers with mock injuries such as minor burns, sprains, and fainting cases. This helped create awareness of the importance of immediate medical attention in case of an actual emergency.
Preventive safety measures were also highlighted during the drill. Students were educated about:
- The importance of not panicking during emergencies.
- Keeping handkerchiefs/cloths on nose and mouth to avoid smoke inhalation.
- Avoiding the use of lifts during a fire and using only staircases.
- Maintaining a single-file movement to prevent chaos.
- Identifying and reporting any hazard-prone areas within the building.
To further reinforce the learning, a questionnaire has been shared with the students, which will be followed up in the classroom through interactive discussions led by teachers. This reflective exercise will help students understand the significance of prompt action, presence of mind, and teamwork in times of crisis.
The drill not only highlighted the readiness of the school community but also instilled in the students the value of being responsible citizens who prioritize safety, preparedness, and collective well-being.
