Faridabad (Ajay Verma/Paridhi Dhasmana), 19 December. Faridabad witnessed a late-night spell of chaos on Thursday as a black Scorpio SUV went on a destructive rampage along the Mathura Road highway (NH-19), smashing into multiple vehicles from Ballabhgarh to Old Faridabad.
According to eyewitnesses and police, the incident began near the Ballabhgarh flyover, where a black, numberless Scorpio, allegedly driven by an intoxicated man, was speeding towards Delhi. The driver first hit two vehicles in Ballabhgarh. When locals tried to stop him, he accelerated further, triggering a dangerous chase.
The Scorpio continued its reckless run through Ajronda and Bata Chowk, ramming vehicles along the way and spreading panic on the highway.
The rampage ended dramatically in front of the Old Faridabad Metro Station, where the out-of-control Scorpio crashed into a Mahindra Thar moving ahead and a Mercedes car alongside it. The impact was severe—the Thar mounted the divider, while the front portion of the Mercedes was completely crushed. The Scorpio itself was heavily damaged and came to a halt in the middle of the road.
A large crowd gathered at the spot soon after the collision. An angry mob overpowered the Scorpio driver and later handed him over to the police. Police officials reached the scene and have initiated an investigation into the incident.
The series of collisions caused traffic to slow down significantly on the Delhi–Agra Highway stretch between Old Faridabad and Bata Chowk. Using cranes, police removed the damaged Scorpio, Thar, and Mercedes to restore traffic movement.
Injured persons were admitted to a nearby private hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Police say further action will be taken based on the investigation and medical reports.
