Gurugram, 28 August. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), in a joint drive conducted by its Enforcement Wing and Infrastructure-I Division, undertook strict action against illegal encroachments and resolved infrastructure-related issues across multiple stretches in the city.
At the sector dividing road between Sectors 90/93, demolition of illegal carts along roundabouts was carried out by the Enforcement Wing led by DTP GMDA, R.S. Batth. Furthermore, areas occupied by certain vendors who had extended beyond the area permitted by Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) were also cleared. The Infra Division highlighted a few locations where local resistance was preventing the digging required to connect the surface drain. The work has now been completed, ensuring proper drainage connectivity in the stretch that was earlier left out due to road access issues linked with ongoing projects being undertaken in the area.
At the sector dividing road between Sectors 92/95, GMDA blocked the illegal cuts in the central verge, which were posing a risk to commuter safety and had made this critical location accident-prone. During the visit, potholes identified along the stretch were also repaired on priority.
Action was also taken along the Multi-Utility Corridor (84/88 and 85/88), where illegal encroachments in the form of material dumping, tin sheds, and even a permanent structure were removed. Directions were issued to all violators to clear the encroached stretches so that work for making the service road functional can be carried forward at the earliest.
The joint enforcement and infrastructure drive will support in ensuring public safety on critical road stretches, maintaining drainage connectivity, removing illegal encroachments obstructing civic infrastructure and strengthening road infrastructure for commuter convenience.
“GMDA remains committed to taking strict enforcement measures against violations while simultaneously addressing citizens’ infrastructure concerns on priority. We will continue such regular enforcement drives to also accelerate ongoing infrastructure developmental works of the Authority,” said R.S.Bathh, DTP GMDA.
