Gurugram, Sept 11. Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini said that Gurugram has be made number one in cleanliness rankings through effective administrative management and active public participation. With the theme ‘Mera Gurugram – Swachh Gurugram’, the people of Gurugram are encouraged to move forward together in creating a clean and pure environment for a healthier city.
On Thursday morning, the Chief Minister conveyed the message of cleanliness to the public by personally participating in the Mega Swachhata Abhiyan at Sohna Chowk and Sector 52 under the Haryana City Swachhata Abhiyan.
MLA Mukesh Sharma (Gurugram), MLA Tejpal Tanwar (Sohna), along with senior administrative officials accompanied the Chief Minister. Leading by example, Nayab Singh Saini cleaned the area alongside Swachhata Mitras and motivated the public to adopt cleanliness as a way of life.
Create a pleasant environment by adopting cleanliness as a way of life – Chief Minister
Addressing the public during the Mega Swachhata Abhiyan, the Chief Minister said that cleanliness is the foundation of a healthy life. Therefore, everyone must adopt cleanliness as a continuous part of their lifestyle to create a pleasant environment. He assured that the Haryana Government will extend full support in realizing the vision of ‘Mera Gurugram – Swachh Gurugram’. The Chief Minister added that with the end of the monsoon, development works in Gurugram district will be expedited for the convenience of the people, bringing them direct benefits. Highlighting the 11-week special campaign under the drive, he said that the focus will be on the beautification and upgradation of every urban area. The cleanliness ranking of cities will also be determined and Gurugram will secure a prominent position.
Cleanliness is becoming a public movement under the leadership of the Prime Minister
The Chief Minister said that the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2, 2014. Under his visionary leadership, cleanliness has grown into a people’s movement across the country. He said that cleanliness is not merely the responsibility of the government but a collective duty of every citizen. Everyone should actively participate in this noble campaign by keeping their homes, streets, localities, and wards clean. He informed that beginning September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sewa Pakhwada will be celebrated in Haryana. As part of this initiative, activities such as cleanliness drives, tree plantation, health camps and sports awareness programs will be organized to bring about social change. The Sewa Pakhwada will continue till October 2.
He also extended special thanks to various religious and social organizations, Resident Welfare Associations, and trader bodies for their active participation in the Mera Gurugram – Swachh Gurugram campaign.

MLA Mukesh Sharma said that the campaign to make Gurugram clean and beautiful will not be limited to a single day or week but will be carried forward as a continuous public movement. He said that this effort will not be allowed to stop under any circumstances. The MLA assured that in the coming days, the campaign will move ahead with greater enthusiasm, energy and a well-planned strategy. He appealed to the citizens to actively participate, stressing that such an initiative cannot succeed through government efforts alone, every resident of Gurugram must contribute. He further said that Swachhata is not merely a cleanliness drive but should become an integral part of our mindset and way of life.
On this occasion, Mayor Gurugram Rajrani, CEO of GMDA Shyamal Mishra, Divisional Commissioner R.C Bidhan, Media Advisor to Chief Minister Rajiv Jaitley along with other officials were also present.
