Gurugram, 16 April – A serious allegation has emerged from Medanta Hospital in Gurugram after a 46-year-old air hostess, who was admitted there for treatment, claims that she was sexually assaulted by a male staff member while on a ventilator.
According to the complaint, the air hostess was admitted to Medanta after her health worsened, and she was put on a ventilator. In her vulnerable state, she alleges that a male member of the hospital staff inappropriately touched her private parts. The incident came to her attention only after she recovered and was discharged.
Once she informed her husband about the incident, he immediately alerted the authorities by dialing 112. The police subsequently registered an FIR and have initiated an investigation into the matter. As part of the inquiry, officers are reviewing CCTV footage from Medanta Hospital and plan to question the staff who were on duty at the time.
Medanta Hospital has stated that it received a complaint from the patient and is fully cooperating with the investigation being carried out by the relevant authorities. At this stage, the hospital noted that the allegations remain unverified. All the pertinent documents, including the CCTV footage from the relevant time period, have been handed over to the police, and the hospital continues to support the ongoing investigation.
