Gurugram(Paridhi Dhasmana), April 14 – Gurugram Police have uncovered a criminal gang responsible for a series of well-orchestrated robberies targeting local shops. The police arrested five men in connection with an attack on a medical store and recovered stolen items including weapons, a helmet used during the assault, and cash totaling ₹1,10,000.
The Crime and Process
Authorities revealed that the gang would first conduct a search of local shops to determine which establishments handled significant amounts of cash. The criminals would then wait until the late hours—when shops were closed or nearly closing—to initiate the robbery, taking advantage of the unprotected state of the site. In this specific incident, the suspects impersonated as customers at a medical store located in Sai Chowk, New Palam Vihar Phase-3.
On the night of March 30 at around 10 p.m., three men entered the store. Two of the suspects were seen wearing helmets. When their request for certain medications was denied—due to the unavailability of some drugs—they escalated the situation by brandishing a pistol. The attackers then frightened the store employee and ran away with a large amount of cash. A complaint was registered the following day at the Bajghera police station, prompting an immediate investigation.
Arrests and Investigation
The case quickly led the Palam Vihar Police to track down and arrest the five individuals implicated in the robbery. The suspects have been identified as Ashutosh, a resident of Hari Vanshpur in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh; Manish, from Koharar in Rewari district; Ajay, hailing from Badpura in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh; Ashish Pal, also from Badpura in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh; and Krishna, identified from Poora in Rewari district, Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.
Investigations revealed that Ashutosh, Manish, Ajay, and Ashish Pal were arrested near Basai Chowk on March 9, while Krishna was caught and arrested on March 12 in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh. During police interrogation, the suspects confessed to additional plans to carry out similar high-risk robberies using weapons provided by Krishna.
Seized Evidence and Ongoing Measures
In a significant breakthrough, police recovered two traditional ‘desi katte’ (or desi gun) blades and a helmet that were reportedly used during the robbery, along with the cash haul from the scene. Following their arrest, Ashutosh, Manish, Ajay, and Ashish Pal were brought before the court and remanded into police custody for three days, pending further investigation.
Gurugram Police continue to urge local shopkeepers to remain vigilant, especially during the night hours when such targeted attacks are most likely to occur. Investigators are working to further wholly solve the gang’s criminal activities to prevent future incidents.
