Gurugram, 8 April. Taxi driver Mausam, who had defied family opposition to marry the love of his life two years ago, experienced a shocking betrayal early Monday morning. After finishing his duty at 6 a.m. and returning home at Basai Enclave’s Gali No. 4 in Gurugram, only to find his wife missing. Worried and confused, he searched for her until he finally reached the rooftop.
There, Mausam was stunned to see his wife in the arms of another man. Despite the heartbreak, he gathered his composure and confronted the pair. However, neither his wife nor the man—later identified as Naveen—seemed to be disturbed by his presence. When Mausam protested, Naveen pulled a “desi katta” (a local-style knife) from his pocket and moved towards him, with both of them threatening to harm Mausam in a manner reminiscent of a notorious incident in Meerut.
A violent struggle broke out between Mausam and Naveen as the fight spilled from the rooftop down the stairs. In the scuffle, Mausam’s wife clung to him while neighbours began to notice the commotion, prompting Mausam to call out for help. Taking advantage of the chaos, his wife and Naveen fled the scene amid further threats.
Mausam, who hails from Kharman village in Jhajjar district, is now so deeply distressed by these events that he has returned to his village in Jhajjar. According to reports, his wife—who originally comes from Moga, Punjab—had connected with Naveen on Instagram about 7 to 8 months ago. The relationship further developed when she introduced Naveen as a relative at a family wedding at her maternal home nearly three and a half months ago. Notably, it was in his village that his wife had introduced Naveen as her cousin.
Fearing for his life, Mausam has filed an FIR at Sector 10 police station and has requested police protection, noting that Naveen already has several criminal cases against him. During the investigation, authorities represented by Officer Pushpendra, has recovered an empty “desi katta” from the scene. Additionally, while Mausam’s wife left her mobile phone behind, Naveen has switched his off, making it harder for police to track them.
Officer Pushpendra has assured that the police would soon track down and arrest both the woman and Naveen. Authorities are actively pursuing leads and are urging anyone with further information to come forward as the investigation continues.
