Gurugram (Paridhi Dhasmana), 17 December. An uncovered manhole led to a traffic disruption on a busy internal road in Gurugram on Wednesday morning. At around 11:03 a.m., near Gaba ki Kothi, on the narrow road connecting Sector 7 and New Colony, an MGF Toyota car got stuck after one of its tyres went into an open manhole. The stretch is frequently used by local commuters. No warning signage or barricades were present at the spot at the time of the incident, leading to the accident. Local residents and passers-by intervened and, after sustained efforts, managed to pull the vehicle’s tyre out of the manhole. No injuries were reported. The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road maintenance and public safety in the city. Uncovered manholes continue to pose a serious risk, especially for two-wheeler riders and pedestrians. The matter pertains to the concerned civic authorities, raising the unavoidable question—when will the Gurugram Municipal Corporation stop evading responsibility?
