Jind, April 15 – During the COVID-19 period, mobile phones provided to children for education are now tearing apart Indian culture. Even small school-going children have become social media savvy, gaining easy access to obscene material and crime-related information. As a result, there has been a noticeable rise in the number of minors involved in criminal activities.
A shameful incident has come to light in Jind, where two brothers, aged 10-12, made a 5-year-old innocent girl a victim of their lust. The victim lives with her family in the neighborhood of these two minor brothers, who committed the gang rape, leaving her with a lifelong wound.
The family, residing on rent in the city police station area, had no idea that the home they considered safe would turn out to be a curse for their five-year-old daughter. When the victim’s mother went to the roof to dry clothes, she was unaware of the horrific events unfolding downstairs. Upon returning, she was devastated to see the condition of her innocent daughter. Meanwhile, the two minor brothers, living on rent next door, had violated her daughter’s honor.
When the mother reported the gang rape to the police, the officers who heard the account were momentarily stunned. Regaining their composure, they promptly arranged for the girl’s medical examination and registered a case under the charges of gang rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The investigating officer, Female Sub-Inspector Rajesh, stated that a complaint had been received, and they have initially registered the case based on the complaint and launched an investigation.
