Gurugram (Paridhi Dhasmana), 11 April – A night of celebration ended in tragedy on Thursday morning when a young woman lost her life and her companion was seriously injured in a car crash in Gurugram. The couple had reportedly been partying at a local club late into the night before the accident occurred near Gwal Pahari.
According to police sources, Kartik, a resident of Faridabad, had come to Gurugram on Wednesday night with his girlfriend, Manisha, a resident of Madangir, to attend a party at a club. The duo remained at the venue until the early hours of Thursday, enjoying the festivities. Around 5:30 AM, they left the club in Kartik’s car, with Kartik behind the wheel despite being under the influence of alcohol.
As the car approached the Gwal Pahari area, an animal reportedly darted across the road, causing Kartik to lose control of the vehicle. The car crashed violently into a roadside pole.
ASI Joginder Kumar, who arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, confirmed that both individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Manisha was declared dead upon arrival. Kartik sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment. Medical reports have confirmed that he was intoxicated at the time of the accident.
The DLF Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation. Manisha’s body has been handed over to her family following a postmortem examination.
Authorities are now examining CCTV footage and witness statements to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the crash. The case once again brings attention to the perils of drunk driving and the irreversible consequences that can follow.
