Gurugram (Paridhi Dhasmana), 23 April – The Pahalgam terrorist attack has left Himanshi from Gurugram with a sorrow she will never forget in her lifetime. Just a few days before this tragic incident, Himanshi had tied the knot with Vinay Narwal, a naval officer from Karnal, in an unbreakable bond meant to last seven lifetimes.
Their wedding took place on April 16, and on April 19, a wedding reception was held in Karnal. On April 21, Himanshi and Vinay arrived at Gurugram Sector 47, and from there, they went straight to Delhi Airport to depart for their honeymoon in Kashmir. However, the very next day, April 22, brought Himanshi an unforgettable pain. The henna on her hands had not yet faded when the Pahalgam terrorist attack claimed her husband’s life. The images and memories of the attack will remain etched in Himanshi’s mind forever.
Terrorists shot Vinay Narwal in the chest, throat, and near the left arm, killing him on the spot. Himanshi survived the attack unharmed. Following the incident, videos and photos of Himanshi with her husband Vinay’s body have gone viral on social media. In one video, Himanshi, with a trembling voice, recounts, “We were just eating bhel puri, and then he shot my husband. The gunman said my husband is not a Muslim and then shot him.”
Vinay Narwal had begun his career in the Indian Navy just two years ago and was currently posted in Kochi. After completing his B.Tech, he had joined the navy.
Wedding Video Goes Viral
A video of the wedding of 26-year-old Vinay and Himanshi has also surfaced. Their wedding took place on April 16, after which they traveled to Pahalgam for their honeymoon.
Couldn’t Get a Visa for Switzerland, So Went to Kashmir
Vinay’s grandfather told journalists that the couple had wanted to visit Switzerland after their wedding but couldn’t secure a visa, so they chose Kashmir instead. During a video call with Chief Minister Saini, the grandfather expressed his appeal to Prime Minister Modi to eradicate terrorism from its roots.
In a terrorist attack on Tuesday in the Baisaran Valley near Pahalgam, Kashmir—a tourist spot famously known as ‘Mini Switzerland’—26 people lost their lives. Most of the deceased were tourists. This marks the deadliest attack in the valley since the Pulwama attack in 2019.
As news of the incident spread, demands for strict action against terrorists echoed across the country. An atmosphere of mourning has engulfed Vinay’s home and village, with his grandfather breaking down in tears over the loss of his grandson.
